Greetings Fellow Alumni,
My apologies for the delay in getting this information to you, but we have just finalized the details for the 2012 Alumni Tournament and we need your assistance in order to determine what the final numbers will be!
The details are as follows:
Alumni Cup Draft (Saturday, January 28th - 5:45 - 7:00pm, following the skate)
Drafting of the alumni cup teams shall take place following the Alumni skate on January 28th. The skate is from 4:45 to 5:45 at NAIT Arena and the draft will take place in the dressing room afterward. Pizza and "beverages" will be there. Come out to the skate (even if it's your first time) and spend some quality pizza time with the boys while we select the Alumni Cup Teams. NAIT is also taking on SAIT that night, so you are encouraged to stay for the game afterward.
A follow up email shall be sent to everyone with the rosters if you are unable to make it to the draft.
2012 Alumni Cup (Saturday, February 4th - 12:00PM - 9:00PM)
The Alumni Cup shall be held on February 4th from 12:00 - 6:00 at the NAIT arena. Depending on the number of people who sign up, we will either have a round robin tournament between 4 teams or a full length game between 2 teams (again depending on the numbers). I will communicate the final format once numbers are in place.
We are also organizing a 40+ game to take place at some point during the day (time not yet finalized). If you are interested in coming out, but a bit older and not sure if you can keep up with the younger guys (trust me, you probably can) then the 40+ game may definitely be for you.
Just like last year, following the completion of the tournament, we will be providing pizza and beer and watching the current men's team take on Grant MacEwen in the battle of 109th St. Everyone is encouraged to stick around and visit, have a few pops and some pizza, catch up with your fellow alumni and watch NAIT pound GMAC.
What Do You Need to Do?
If you wish to participate in the Alumni Tournament (why wouldn't you?), please email David Greenhalgh (david.greenhalgh@stryker.com) and provide him with your name and contact information so that he may add you to the list.
If you are interested in taking part in the 40+ game, please email Tom Tookey (tookesags@gmail.com).
We need to finalize our numbers ASAP so your prompt reply is appreciated if you wish to participate!
Cheers Gents!

Greetings Fellow Alumni,
For the past few months, the NAIT Men's Hockey Coach, Serge Lajoie has been working on the development of a 3 on 3 Adult Hockey Tournament to be held over the Christmas break this year.
Please review the attached details and if you think you would be interested in submitting a team, please feel free to contact Coach Lajoie in order to register. I have attached his contact details below.
From Coach Lajoie:
The NAIT Men’s Hockey Team will be hosting an Adult 3on3 Christmas Tournament the evenings of December 27th, 29th and 30th with the Championship Round to be played in the morning of December 31st. The format will be the same as the Perry Pearn’s 3vs3.
I have attached the information document and kindly ask that you forward this to anyone who you feel would be interested in taking part in our inaugural Adult 3on3 Christmas Challenge. We are looking for 12 teams in total that will be divided into 3 pools of 4 teams.
Thank you for your assistance in getting this information out to the general adult hockey population.
This is a reminder that the first of our weekly Saturday skates kicks off this weekend at NAIT Arena from 4:45 - 5:45pm.
While the season long battle for dominance between Team Blue and Team Grey shall continue, this year's Blue and Grey Captains (Blue: Jeremy McKibbon and Curtis Chmilar, Grey: Dave Greenhalgh and Chad Kirkland) are meeting on the afternoon of Friday the 30th to draft new teams for this year. Once the teams have been drafted, the website rosters will be updated, an email will be sent out and rosters will be posted on the dressing room door prior to the skate on Saturday.
In other news, The NAIT Mens Hockey team closed out their pre-season with a record of 2-3-1, with wins over Portage (5-3) and Concordia (8-2), while dropping games to the U of A Golden Bears (1-0 and 5-1), and Augustana (5-2) and tying Grant MacEwan (3-3). The team will be travelling north this week to the great state of Alaska to play two exhibition games versus Anchorage (Friday) and Fairbanks (Saturday). We wish the boys safe travels, good times and 2 W's.
The NAIT Men's Hockey team officially kicks off it's season on Friday October 7th vs. Concordia @ 8:15PM @ Clareview A.

OOKS Men's Hockey Add Piluso, Westfall, & Draper
A graduate of the Edmonton Oil Kings is scheduled to line up with the NAIT Ooks in college hockey this season.
NAIT head coach Serge Lajoie announced that Michael Piluso, a five-year Western Hockey League junior, plans to enrol in NAIT's academic upgrading program, a step toward life as a student-athlete in electrical engineering.
Lajoie, working hard to rebuild the Ooks as he heads into his second season, also announced the addition of Alberta Junior Hockey League standouts Michael Westfall and Jordan Draper.
Piluso, traded to the Oil Kings by the Vancouver Giants last year, collected 111 points in 261 WHL games. He also served 164 penalty minutes while developing the leadership that led to his role as an Oil Kings assistant captain last season.
"Michael exemplifies the players we want on our team," Lajoie said. "He is a 200-foot player, whose work ethic is contagious and he makes players around him better."
Piluso also is a proven penalty killer. "We are excited to have such a character player join us."
Westfall is a former captain of the Bonnyville Pontiacs. At 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, he figures to provide a strong physical presence among the NAIT defencemen.
"His compete level in the defensive zone impressed me," Lajoie said. "He prides himself in making simple plays and will be relied on heavily to play against other teams' top lines."
Destined to enter the business program, Westfall brings 168 games of AJHL experience. He is the third promising defenceman from that league to join NAIT for 2010-11.
Draper averaged more than a point per game (75 goals, 90 assists) in 153 AJHL games.
In addition to his consistent scoring, he showed solid leadership as an assistant captain with the Enerflex Cup-champion Spruce Grove Saints.
The addition is a major one. Draper transferred from York University to become part of NAIT's business program.
"His championship experience will have a major effect in our dressing room," said Lajoie. "This combination of character and ability, in addition to his offensive dimension, brings established value to the Ooks."
Both Westfall and Draper and Sherwood Park products. Piluso was raised in Maple Ridge, B.C.
